4 Vegan Beauty Brands Created by Female Bosses

I am so over cosmetic products that test on animals or use animal products. Animals are tortured and killed for vanity.

Why

Is

It

Necessary?

I have found that most vegan and/or cruelty-free brands have better, skin-loving ingredients. Plus, brands often acknowledge their environmental impact.

Over 100 million animals are killed annually in the U.S. because of experimentation. I’m talking about animals that many people have as pets like dogs, cats, frogs, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, monkeys, rats, rabbits, fish, pigs, and birds! That is craziness.

These animals don’t have a voice for consent and are used in biology lessons, medical training, curiosity-driven experimentation, and chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics testing.

Animals are tormented in these experiments and live in unnatural habitats. They are confined to barren cages, socially isolated, and psychologically traumatized.

The European Union, Israel, and India have banned the sale of any cosmetics or cosmetics ingredients that have been tested on animals.

China requires specific animal tests, while the U.S. does not ban animal testing for cosmetics or household products. Below are cosmetic tests that are conducted:

  • Acute toxicity testing

  • Eye and skin irritation/corrosion testing

  • Skin sensitization testing

  • Carcinogenicity testing

  • Reproductive and developmental toxicity testing

It is horrendous to think about, but we have to acknowledge animal testing to fight it.

Now onto the positive...

EP has picked 4 vegan beauty brands that were all created by women! Ahh, doesn’t that sound magnificent and ethical?

Laws of Nature Cosmetics

Jasmine Rose created Laws of Nature Cosmetics a few years after her mother’s stage four breast cancer diagnosis. She learned of the strong connection between the chemicals in cosmetics and breast cancer. Jasmine decided to adopt a natural dietary and beauty lifestyle.

Jasmine launched the Laws of Nature Cosmetics brand to provide women of color with plant-based mineral foundation. Her formulas consist of high-performance botanicals that promote clearer, healthier looking skin over time.

Everyday Minerals

Founder of Everyday Minerals, Carina Menzies, worked for a few major cosmetic companies but realized they would not offer natural products with simple ingredients. Carina was inspired to create products with natural ingredients in their purest form.

  • Eco-friendly and recyclable packaging

Aromi Beauty

I started Aromi for a couple of reasons that are very close to my heart. It was important for me to do something that combined my chemistry and biology interests with my very girly side that absolutely adores perfumes and cosmetics.

I also wanted to provide beauty products to help women feel confident and beautiful. I love how cosmetics and perfumes can make you feel and how they can be used creatively and artistically.

Formulating and creating handcrafted beauty products for Aromi is truly my passion and I’m grateful for each day that I get to spend time doing something I love.

Modern Minerals

My mother and grandmother taught me first to look to my spiritual wellbeing for beauty. Growing up, I was raised with holistic, naturopathic, and aromatherapy from as early as I can remember.

After leaving home, graduating from design school, a lot of exhausting travel and living in London and Hong Kong, I moved back and began to focus on my own wellness. I began to reflect on how I was eating, what I was using my skin and ways to live more mindfully and exploring beauty from a different perspective.

I began to research and explore more options specifically looking to find beauty products made without animal testing. The result was creating a different kind of beauty & now hair care line that is fueled by positivity and purpose.

I get excited by watching women bloom. Women believing in themselves, loving themselves and others. Women fighting for their beliefs and for others without a voice. Everything you need to bloom was given to you when you were created. My hope is to help water and nurture what’s already inside you.
