When it comes to periods, you may have women and men in your life who change the subject.
They need to get over it. They would not be on this earth if their mothers did not have periods. Sit a pad on your desk. Say you have cramps. Say that you are calling out of work because you are on your period. Talk to your #EmpowerSquad about your differences and similarities. Have a man buy you tampons. Who gives a fuck.
Personally, my period lasts eight days and is very heavy. About once a year, I throw up because of my period. The first through third days are the worst. I no longer hide tampons or pads. I don’t hide the fact I’m on my period. Our bodies are brilliant things that create whole entire humans!
Everyone is different, so embrace your cycle and don’t allow shame to keep the subject taboo.
In the U.S. and globally, millions of women lack access to menstrual products. While I can pay double-digit numbers plus tax on tampons and pads, other women must use toilet paper, skip school, miss work and more.
More on the tampon tax:
Knowing this, I can’t feel shame for my period when I need to stand up for women without access.
The types of menstrual products sold on the market is growing, but this post is focused on tampons and pads without chemicals. More options make it harder to choose. I’m here to share EP’s pick and introduce you to brands you may not know.
